Tea Appreciation Course Program Join us to delve deeper into the world of black, green, and oolong teas through these three new informative and interactive courses. In each course participants will examine the loose leaf and taste the steeped infusions of notable teas from each of these three categories. We will also discuss specific health benefits of the teas in each category, the proper preparation of teas in each category, and any relevant legends, lore or notable facts. Each course is two hours. Black TeasParticipants will learn about teas from the traditional black tea producing countries of China, India and Sri Lanka, along with those from Nepal, Kenya, and Indonesia. The teas that will be explored include: Golden Monkey; Yunnan; Darjeeling Autumnal; Nilgiri; Kenilworth Estate Ceylon; among others. Green TeasParticipants will learn about teas from the traditional green tea producing countries of China and Japan, with particular focus on how the differences in processing the tea leaves result in the many different styles of tea and their characteristics. The teas that will be explored, include: Gunpowder; Clouds and Mist; Bi Lo Chun; Sencha; Genmaicha; among others. Oolong TeasParticipants will learn about teas from the traditional oolong tea producing countries of China and Taiwan, with particular focus on how the processing of the tea leaves creates this most diverse category of teas. The teas that will be explored, include: Pouchong; Tung Ting; Monkey Picked Oolong; Milk Oolong; White Tip Oolong; among others. The information presented in these three courses builds upon that presented in the course Introduction to Tea Appreciation. Introduction to Tea Appreciation is a recommended prerequisite, but not required. Courses are taught by Kristine Henderson, Certified Tea Specialist and owner of The Pleasures of Tea.
