Located at an elevation above 6,500 feet near the border with Yunnan Province in China, the wild-growing Camellia sinensis assamica trees in the ancient forests of Bat Xat District benefit from a cool, sub-temperate highland microclimate. Similar to the Cloud Mist teas of China, these plants are bathed in clouds and mist that imparts a particular chemistry within the leaf yielding a thicker infusion and more savory notes. After harvest, the leaves are pan-fired to remove some of the moisture and halt any oxidation.
