Longjing Pre-Qing Ming Premium Organic, also known as Dragonwell, is a green tea from the green hills in the region in and around the town of Hangzhou in the Zhejiang Province of China. The province is located on the east coast, just north of Fujian, and is mostly hilly with plains dominating in the north. The climate is humid and subtropical, providing an ideal climate for this agricultural region. Longjing is one of the ten most famous teas of China and it is highly prized and often copied. We offer two grades of Longjing - this premium grade and our standard grade. Both of our Longjing offerings are from an area just outside Hangzhou, so that we may provide these wonderful teas at a reasonable price.
The hand-plucked and processed leaves have a distinctive flat shape from being hand-pressed against the sides of a hot wok during the pan-firing stage. This is a higher grade than our standard Longjing and was harvested before the Qing Ming holiday in early April. The smaller, more uniform leaves of this tea yield the similar balanced, robust and rich, light- to medium-bodied infusion with the nutty, toasty and grassy notes reminiscent of roasted chestnuts; however, this tea is smoother, more delicate, and sweeter.
