Bug-Bitten Formosa is a rare black tea from Hualien County on the eastern coast of Taiwan. The leaves are grown at elevations between 1,600 and 2,000 feet and are hand-plucked and processed each summer after the young leaves have been nibbled on by the leaf hopper.
Long, tightly rolled leaves yield a smooth, medium-bodied, wulong-like infusion with notes of honey and floral and a lingering sweetness.
*Please note that this is a different leaf style than the one that we have been offering for many years and it presents a little more mild in the cup. The leaves take some coaxing to unfurl, but each infusion is a treat worth waiting for.
