Satemwa Estate Father Zambezi's Mission Malawi Wulong Tea

$11.00

Satemwa Estate Father Zambezi's Mission is a wulong tea that is grown and produced in the Thyolo District in the southern Shire Highlands. Established in 1923 at an elevation about 3,300 feet to grow both tea and coffee in the temperate climate, it is one of the few remaining family-owned tea gardens in the area, as most gardens have been sold to larger companies looking to produce commodity tea. This garden produces artisanal teas derived from experiments with the local cultivars of the tea plant that have been developed here over the decades - Bvumbwe, Thyolo and Zomba.

This is a higher quality pluck than the Thyolo Wulong, with more bud and varying levels of oxidation between 10-40%. This finer processing yields an infusion that is smooth and complex with a little more body than the Thyolo and sweet, fruity, honey, spicy and woody notes.

  • Tea is priced and sold by the ounce.
  • Minimum purchase of 2 ounces.
