Glenburn Estate First Flush FTGFOP is from the famous tea-producing Darjeeling Region in the foothills of the Himalayas in the state of West Bengal in northeastern India. Established around 1859, the 1600-acre estate is located at about 3,200 feet and is planted with the Camellia sinensis sinensis variety of the tea plant. The garden uses sustainable agricultural practices and is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, a tea-specific fair trade organization. As such, it provides living and working conditions that exceed those required by Indian law, a hospital and schools for the workers’ children.
First Flush teas are the first harvest of the season and are usually plucked for only a few weeks from late February through early April, using the weather to determine the harvesting.
Multi-colored leaves and buds yield a pale amber, light- to medium-bodied infusion that is highly aromatic and complex with notes of grass, citrus and the freshness of spring.
