Glenburn Estate Roasted Green Tea is from the famous tea-producing Darjeeling Region in the foothills of the Himalayas in the state of West Bengal in northeastern India. Established around 1859, the 1600-acre estate is located at about 3,200 feet and is planted with the Camellia sinensis sinensis variety of the tea plant. The garden uses sustainable agricultural practices and is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, a tea-specific fair trade organization. As such, it provides living and working conditions that exceed those required by Indian law, a hospital and schools for the workers’ children.
This tea is harvested during the summer and is lightly roasted during production. Curly leaves yield a dark golden, smooth, light-bodied infusion that has a clean mouthfeel and fresh, nutty, slightly roasted notes. The roasting tones down the "greenness" of the other Glenburn green tea we offer.
