Glenburn Estate Silver Needle White Tea is from the famous tea-producing Darjeeling Region in the foothills of the Himalayas in the state of West Bengal in northeastern India. Established around 1859, the 1600-acre estate is located at about 3,200 feet and is planted with the Camellia sinensis sinensis variety of the tea plant. The garden uses sustainable agricultural practices and is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, a tea-specific fair trade organization. As such, it provides living and working conditions that exceed those required by Indian law, a hospital and schools for the workers’ children.
This rare tea is harvested and processed for only a few days each summer. This delicate, pure bud is plucked by only the most experienced tea pluckers.
Mostly uniform, slender, silver downy buds yield a subtle and light-bodied infusion that is sweet with notes of hay and a crisp finish.
