Gurue Organic is an organic black tea produced in the foothills of Mount Namuli in northern Mozambique. Tea was first planted in the region by Portuguese settlers in the 1920's. The tea industry was robust until 1975 when Mozambique gained its independence and the gardens were abandoned. But the tea industry has started to rebound again - and to our benefit. The plants thrive in this area that is ideal for growing tea in the temperate climate at an elevation of 2,300 feet.
The small, twisted leaves unfurl to yield an enjoyable, smooth and sweet, medium-bodied infusion that is flavorful with honey and citrus notes.
