Laoshan Village Green Tea is from Laoshan Village in the Shandong Province of China. It is located on the Yellow Sea coast across from South Korea at an elevation of 1,000 feet. The temperate monsoon climate is ideal for growing quality tea and the locals give credit to the balance between the “yang” of the granite mountains and the “yin” of the Yellow Sea. The teas in Laoshan Village are produced from the Longjing #43 cultivar and are hand-harvested and hand-processed. The early-April, first flush harvested leaves are dried in the shade for a few hours before being machine-dried to prevent oxidation. They are then hand-rolled and undergo a final drying.
The small, tippy leaves unfurl to yield a smooth, light- to medium-bodied infusion that is sweet and savory with vegetal and umami notes.
