Satemwa Estate Zomba Pearls Malawi White Tea

Satemwa Estate Zomba Pearls is a white tea that is grown and produced in the Thyolo District in the southern Shire Highlands. Established in 1923 at an elevation about 3,300 feet to grow both tea and coffee in the temperate climate, it is one of the few remaining family-owned tea gardens in the area, as most gardens have been sold to larger companies looking to produce commodity tea. This garden produces artisanal teas derived from experiments with the local cultivars of the tea plant that have been developed here over the decades - Bvumbwe, Thyolo and Zomba.

This unique tea is comprised of beautiful large leaves that have been loosely rolled into large, cocoon-shaped pearls. The pearls unfurl to yield a smooth, balanced, viscous and light-bodied infusion with buttery, sweet, floral, and lemony notes.

  • Tea is priced and sold by the ounce.
